Cleveland, Ga. (March 6, 2012) --- The Milligan College baseball team picked up a nonconference sweep of Truett-McConnell on Tuesday afternoon in Cleveland, Ga. The Buffaloes won the first game 7-2 and then scored a run in the seventh to take a 1-0 game two victory.

  The Buffaloes opened the game by putting two runs on the board, but the Bears responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning. Milligan added to their lead with two runs in the fourth and fifth innings as they pulled away from Truett-McConnell to take the victory.

Cody Compton (Lebanon, Va.) got the start and win on the mound. In six innings pitched, Compton allowed just two runs on six hits with five strikeouts.
Kyle Kolat (South Bend, Ind.) was 2-for-3 at the plate, while
Dustin Clawson (Johnson City, Tenn.) was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
Wesley Jones (Kingsport, Tenn.) also added a RBI.

  In the second game, neither team was able to get a run on the board through six innings. The top of the seventh saw Milligan get the game's lone run when Jones crossed the plate after
Tyree Jefferies (Jackson, Tenn.) was hit by a pitch. That would be the only run the Buffaloes needed to take the victory.

Tyler Wilson (Johnson City, Tenn.) got the start on the mound as he did not give up a hit in five innings of work. At the plate, Jones was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

  With the win, Milligan improves to 10-11 overall and they remain 2-1 in the AAC.

  The Buffaloes return to the field on Wednesday March 7, for a nine-inning game against Shorter University. Game time is slated for 2 p.m., in Rome, Ga.
