Milligan College, Tenn. (April 1, 2012) --- The Milligan College baseball scored 10 runs in the first two innings to pull away and cruise to a 13-2 victory over Montreat College on Sunday afternoon at Anglin Field.

  After a double-play ended the top of the first, the Buffaloes put four runs on the board when
Joe Purus (Hudson, N.C.) drove
Wesley Jones (Kingsport, Tenn.) across home plate and
Luke Kirk (Gate City, Va.) and Purus scored on a
Tyree Jefferies (Jackson, Tenn.) single. Milligan continued to keep the bats hot as they put six runs on the board in the bottom of the second.

  The Buffaloes added two more runs on the board in the third inning when Purus drove in two runs with a double. Purus scored the final Milligan run in the bottom of the sixth when he scored off a
Dustin Clawson (Johnson City, Tenn.) sacrifice bunt. The Cavaliers scored two runs in the top of the seventh, but that was the only two runs that the Buffaloes would allow.

  Purus led the way at the plate as he was 3-for-3 with four RBIs, while Jefferies ended the game 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
Ryan White (Knoxville, Tenn.) was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Jones finished 2-for-4 and added another RBI for Milligan.

  On the mound,
Sean Robinson (Knoxville, Tenn.) picked up the win. Robinson allowed two runs on six hits and recorded three strikeouts.

  The Buffaloes improve to 8-7 in AAC action and 19-19 overall.

  Milligan returns to action on Monday, April 2, when they travel to nonconference foe Southern Wesleyan for a doubleheader. Game time in Central, S.C., is set for 2 p.m.
