Williamsburg, Ky. (April 15, 2012) --- The Milligan College softball team came up short in their final road doubleheader of the season on Sunday afternoon as they fell to the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky. The Buffaloes were unable to get a run across the plate as they dropped the first game 1-0, and then saw the Lady Patriots score in the bottom of the seventh to take a 4-3 victory in the second game.

  In the first game, Cumberlands scored the game's lone run in the bottom of the second. Milligan continued to fight to get runners in scoring position, but was unable to get a runner across home plate.

Chancli Connatser (Maryville, Tenn.) was handed the loss. In six innings of work, Connatser gave up just one run on five hits and recorded an 11 strikeout performance for the second day in a row.

  At the plate,
Camille Olvey (Maryville, Tenn.),
Abby Hughes (Rogersville, Tenn.) and
Maleah Wolfenbarger (Knoxville, Tenn.) were 1-for-2.

  The Buffaloes opened the second game with a run in the top of the first, and then extended their lead with two more in the third. However, the Lady Patriots responded with two runs of their own in the home side of the third, and then scored two more runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the walk-off victory.

  Krista Lambdin (Knoxville, Tenn.) was 2-for-3, while Hughes finished the game 2-for-4 with a RBI.
Mackenzie Lilley (Kingsport, Tenn.) and
Kelsey Simmons (Elizabethton, Tenn.) were both 1-for-2.

  In the pitching circle, Connatser was handed the loss as she gave up two runs on four hits.

  With the loss, Milligan falls to 25-19 overall and remain 12-4 in the AAC.

  The Buffaloes are slated to wrap up the regular season on Tuesday, April 17, as they host AAC leader Reinhardt University in a crucial AAC doubleheader. First pitch at Anglin Field is slated for 2 p.m. ÂÂ
