Central, S.C. (April 2, 2012) --- The Milligan College baseball team came up short in a nonconference road game on Monday as they fell 11-4 to Southern Wesleyan in Central, S.C.

  After the Warriors put three runs on the board in the first two innings, the Buffaloes evened up the score when
Luke Kirk (Gate City, Va.) and
Cory Hilton (Johnson City, Tenn.) crossed the plate in the visiting side of the third. The Buffaloes took the lead in the top of the fifth when
Tyree Jefferies (Jackson, Tenn.) drove in
Kyle Kolat (South Bend, Ind.), but SWU responded with four runs of their own in the home side of the inning and added another run in the sixth.

  Kolat added another Milligan run with a solo homerun in the top of the seventh. However, the Buffaloes were unable to close the gap any further.

  Jefferies ended the game 3-for-4 with two RBIs at the plate. Kolat was 2-for-4, and Hilton was 2-for-5.

  On the mound,
Cody Compton (Lebanon, Va.) was handed the loss. In three innings of work, Compton allowed three runs on four hits.

  The Buffaloes fall to 19-20 with the loss.

  Milligan returns to action on Friday, April 6, when they return to AAC action as they host Reinhardt University. Game time is slated for 6 p.m., at Anglin Field.
