Athens, Tenn. (April 6, 2012) --- The Milligan College softball team came up short in a pair of AAC games on the road against Tennessee Wesleyan on Friday afternoon in Athens, Tenn. The Buffaloes rallied to tie the first game but fell 4-3, and then was unable to hold off a late TWC charge as they fell 4-2. ÂÂ

  The Buffaloes opened the game with a run in the top of the first when
Krista Lambdin (Knoxville, Tenn.) crossed the plate, but the Lady Bulldogs bounced back to take a 3-1 lead in the fifth. Milligan tied the game with in the top of the sixth when
Maleah Wolfenbarger (Knoxville, Tenn.) and
Emily Biggs (Kingsport, Tenn.) crossed the plate. However, TWC secured the win with a walk-off run in the bottom of the seventh.

Krista Lambin (Knoxville, Tenn.) led the team as she went 3-for-4 for the game.
Makenzie Lilley (Kingsport, Tenn.),
Abby Hughes (Rogersville, Tenn.),
Sarah Arrowood (Asheville, N.C.) and Biggs all went 1-for-3.

Chancli Connatser (Maryville, Tenn.) was handed the loss in the pitching circle. In a complete game effort, Connatser allowed three earned runs on eight hits.

  In the second game,
Kelsey Simmons (Elizabethton, Tenn.) opened the scoring in the third inning. After TWC took the lead with two runs in the home side of the fourth, Milligan tied the game when Biggs crossed the plate in the sixth, but the Lady Bulldogs scored two runs to take the win in the bottom of the inning.

  Lambdin went 2-for-2, while
Sierra Plese (Knoxville, Tenn.) was 2-for-3 at the plate. Simmons was 1-for-2.

  Connatser was handed the loss as she allowed two earned runs on four hits.

  With the loss, Milligan falls to 23-17 overall and 10-4 in the AAC.

  After a scrimmage at Walters State Community College on Wednesday, April 11, the Buffaloes will return to Anglin Field on Saturday, April 14, when they host AAC newcomer Columbia College.
