Buffaloes women's soccer falls in AAC match

Milligan College, Tenn. (Sept. 11, 2012) --- The Milligan College women's soccer team was unable to answer a late goal as they fell 1-0 to Montreat College in Appalachian Athletic Conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Anglin Field.
 
   In the game's first half, neither team was able to get onto the board. The Buffaloes saw shots from Lauren Brewer (Knoxville, Tenn.), Kelsey Kind (Johnson City, Tenn.) and Laura Haun (Randleman, N.C.) in the final minutes saved by Montreat keeper Caroline Mellard as both teams remained scoreless at the half.
 
   The Lady Cavaliers broke onto the board in the 72nd minute when Chloe McCleary-Small found the net. The Buffaloes tried to respond with a pair of corner kicks from Grace Shawley (Mineral Springs, N.C.) and a shot from Kelsey Jones (Royersford, Pa.). However, the Buffaloes were unable to score in the final minutes to tie the game.
 
   Defensively, Lauren McInturff (Kingsport, Tenn.) recorded three saves.
 
   With the loss, Milligan falls to 0-1-1 in AAC action and 2-4-1 overall.
 
   The Buffaloes return to action on Saturday, Sept. 15, when they travel to AAC foe Virginia Intermont. Match time in Bristol, Va., is slated for 5 p.m.
