Buffaloes women's soccer edges Mars Hill in OT

Milligan College, Tenn. (Sept. 26, 2012) --- The Milligan College women's soccer team used a quick goal in overtime to take a 2-1 nonconference victory over NCAA D-II Mars Hill College on Wednesday night in Mars Hill, N.C.

Neither team was able to capitalize on early chances in the first half until Mars Hill scored in the 29th minute with a Grace Lancaster goal. Milligan was unable to answer the Lady Lions score in the final 15 minutes of the half as they trailed 1-0 at the break.

The Buffaloes wasted no time to even the score in the second half as Teagan Wood (Kingsport, Tenn.) scored off an assist from Lindsey Ogle (Morristown, Tenn.) in the 50th minute. Both teams continued to battle to take the lead, but neither could score before time in regulation expired. The Buffaloes secured the win in just the second minute of the overtime period when Jacklyn Orange (Bagdad, Ky.) scored on a header off of a Caroline Gill (Stafford, Va.) corner kick to end the game in the 92nd minute.

Defensively, Lauren McInturff (Kingsport, Tenn.) recorded 11 saves.

With the win, Milligan improves to 5-4-1 overall and they remain 2-1-1 in AAC play.

The Buffaloes return to action on Saturday, Sept. 29, when they host AAC rival Union (Ky.) College for Senior Day. Match time is slated for 4 p.m., at Anglin Field.
