Milligan's Whaley named AAC Player and Hitter of the week

Milligan College, Tenn. (Sept. 24, 2012) --- Milligan College junior Kylie Whaley (Maryville, Tenn.) was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference's Player and Hitter of the week for volleyball. Both honors were announced by the AAC league office on Monday afternoon.
 
   “Kylie had a great week,” Head Coach Doneva Bays said. “She came out really strong against Columbia and played one of the best games of her career. I'm thrilled to see that she has stepped up as a leader and taken on the role of our go to play.”
 
   Whaley had a solid week to help Milligan go 2-1 with two key AAC victories over Columbia and St. Andrews. The junior recorded a hitting percentage of .450 (31-of-97) in the three games and averaged 3.4 kills per set. In the two conference games, she went 14-of-21 (.619) against Columbia and 11-of-18 (.556) against St. Andrews to lead the Buffaloes.
 
   On the season, Whaley has recorded 152 kills and a hitting percentage of .275.
 
   The Buffaloes are currently 9-6 overall and 5-0 in AAC action.
 
   Whaley and company returned to action on Monday, Sept. 24, as they travel to former AAC foe UVA-Wise for a 6:30 p.m., match.
