Barbourville, Ky. (Jan. 10, 2013) --- The Milligan College women's basketball team remained undefeated in Appalachian Athletic Conference action as they picked up a 79-63 victory over No. 18 Union (Ky.) College on Thursday evening in Barbourville, Ky.

  In the first half, the teams traded shots to open the game as a
Tracy Hardiman (Maryville, Tenn.) jumper gave the Buffaloes a slim 9-7 lead five minutes into the game.
Johneshia Good (Johnson City, Tenn.) increased the Milligan lead to five points with a 3-pointer, and
Jaimee Hill (Johnson City, Tenn.) added another 3-pointer to spark a 5-0 Milligan run to put the Buffaloes up 23-12 with just over 10 minutes to play.

  The Lady Bulldogs cut the gap to seven points, but Hill responded with four straight points to extend the Milligan lead. In the final minutes of the half,
Allison Jones (Morristown, Tenn.),
Dorian Freeman (Augusta, Ga.) and Good hit shots to put the Buffaloes up 40-25 at the half.

  Good led the way with 11 points in the first half. As a team, the Buffaloes were 16-of-44 (36%) from the field and 5-of-12 (42%) from behind the 3-point line. Union ended the half 10-of-28 (36%) from the floor and 5-of-12 (42%) from behind the arc. The Buffaloes forced 14 turnovers in the half.

Kayla Kelly (Chattanooga, Tenn.) opened the scoring in the second half as the Buffaloes took an early 50-36 lead in the opening minutes of the frame. Milligan took a 57-43 lead midway through the half after
Chelsey Weddle (Hampton, Tenn.) and Kelly each added a 3-pointer.

  Union slowly cut Milligan lead as they trailed by seven points with five minutes left to play. However, Kelly hit a jumper and Good added a 3-pointer to extend the lead back to double-digits, and the Buffaloes secured the win in the closing minutes.

  Hill ended the game with a game high 22 points and seven rebounds, while Good tallied 20 points in the game. Kelly finished with 14 points. Weddle recorded 10 points in the game.

  As a team, Milligan finished the game 28-of-67 (42%) from the field and 8-of-20 (40%) behind the 3-point line. Union ended the game 24-of-57 (42%) from the floor and 4-of-13 (31%) from behind the arc.

  With the win, Milligan improves to 6-0 in AAC action and 13-5 overall. Union falls to 4-2 in conference action and 11-5 overall. Milligan holds a two-game lead in the AAC standings.

  The Buffaloes return to action on Saturday, Jan. 12, as they host AAC preseason favorite Tennessee Wesleyan. Game time inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse is set for 2 p.m.
