Columbia, S.C. (Jan. 16, 2013) --- The No. 23 Milligan College women's basketball team picked up a road victory to snap a two-game losing skid on Wednesday night as they defeated Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Columbia (S.C.) College 67-58 in Columbia, S.C.
Milligan slowly pulled away from the Fighting Koalas as the Buffaloes held a 38-21 lead at the half. In the second half, the Buffaloes extended their lead to 34 points midway through the half before Columbia chipped away at the lead in the final minutes.
Tracy Hardiman (Maryville, Tenn.) led the way with 14 points.
Dorian Freeman (Augusta, Ga.) and
Jamiee Hill (Johnson City, Tenn.) had 13 points apiece.
Kayla Kelly (Chattanooga, Tenn.) had a team high seven rebounds.
The Buffaloes finished the game 27-of-64 (42%) from the field and 5-of-15 (33%) from behind the 3-point line. The Fighting Koalas ended the game 20-of-64 (31%) from the floor and 0-8 from behind the arc.
With the win, the Buffaloes improve to 7-1 in conference play and 14-7 overall, while Columbia falls to 5-15 overall and 2-6 in AAC action.
Milligan returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 19, as they host Point University in an AAC clash. Game time inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse is set for 2 p.m.
