Milligan women's soccer falls in out-of-conference match up

Milligan College, Tenn. (October 30, 2013) â€" The Milligan College Buffaloes were unable to hold off Mars Hill in an exciting out-of-conference match-up Wednesday night on Anglin Field and fell 2-0.
 
The Buffaloes were well matched with the Lions of Mars Hills as both teams started the first half with three shots apiece within the first 15 minutes. The Buffaloes seemed to keep the ball in their offensive zone for most of the first half until Leah Taylor scored off an assist from Haley Peterson giving the Lions the lead 1-0.
 
Milligan would suffer a second Mars Hill goal after a Milligan foul gave the Lions an offensive advantage. With the score at 2-0, the Buffaloes would enter the half trailing by only two.
 
The Buffaloes kept the ball in the Lions defensive zone for most of the second half. Recording seven shots, Milligan was eager to put one in the back of the net. Unfortunately, the Buffaloes were unable to score after two quick shots by Rebecca Buchanan (Knoxville, Tenn.) late in the half. Despite their efforts, Milligan would trail by two for the remainder of the game and fall 2-0.
 
Buchanan led the Buffaloes on the night with five shots followed by Keri Harrison (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Ansley Ferguson (Kingsport, Tenn.) with three and two shots respectively.Charlotte Stephens (Grays, England) recorded three saves on the night.
 
With the night's loss the Buffaloes' record falls to 5-9-1 overall and remains 4-5 in the conference.
 
The Buffaloes will return to action Saturday, Nov. 2, for their senior night, as they host Truett-McConnell College. Game time at Anglin Field is set for 3 p.m.
