Lady Buffaloes fall in opening night

Milligan College, Tenn. (Nov. 12, 2013) â€" The Milligan College women's basketball team was unable to hold off the Bulldogs of Union College in the team's first conference home game and fell 84-70.
 
The Buffaloes trailed the first several minutes of the half until senior Brooke White (Chuckey, Tenn.) drained a three point shot giving the Buffaloes the lead 20-17. The Bulldogs would battle back and steal the lead back late in the half to make it 26-25. The Buffaloes would trail the remainder of the half and enter half-time down by six at 42-36.
 
Union took the first five minutes of the half and extended their lead to 10 at 52-42. However, Milligan would use steals by three different players to bring the Bulldog lead to only four at 52-48 with 13 minutes left in the second half. The Buffaloes would struggle to cut the Union lead any closer in the remaining minutes of the half. The Buffaloes would go on a late seven-point run under the three-minute mark bringing the score to 74-68, Union. Unfortunately, the Buffaloes would be unable to close the gap any further in the remaining minutes of the game and fell 84-70.
 
Sophomore Allison Jones (Morristown, Tenn.) led the Buffaloes offensively recording 15 points as well as grabbing eight rebounds. Robyn Anthony (Chattanooga, Tenn.) followed Jones with 13 points. Hayley Wyrick (Coeburn, Va.) recorded a double-double for the night with 10 points as well as 10 rebounds.
 
The Buffaloes fall to 0-1 in the AAC after the night's loss as well as 1-1 overall.
 
The Lady Buffaloes will return to action Friday, Nov. 15, as they host the Milligan Classic.
