Lady Buffaloes get conference win on the road

Athens, Tenn. (Nov. 26, 2013) â€" The Milligan College women's basketball team defeated the Bulldogs of Tennessee Wesleyan College 81-66 in the night's Appalachian Athletic Conference win.
 
The Lady Buffaloes took a 12-9 lead early in the game over the Bulldogs after seeing four different players add points to the board. The Bulldogs would fall to an 11 point Buffalo run after the 10-minute mark giving Milligan the lead 31-20. However, Tennessee Wesleyan would bring the game to a tie in the remaining minutes of the first half sending both teams to the locker rooms tied 38-38.
 
The Buffaloes trailed early in the second half falling to a nine-point deficit around the 10-minute mark 60-51. Milligan, however, would find some offensive momentum late in the game and would score seven points in the final two minutes ending the game with the Buffaloes on top at 81-66.
 
Offensively, junior Chelsey Weddle (Hampton, Tenn.) paved the way for the Buffaloes with 29 points as well as recording nine rebounds. Callie Cox (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) followed closely behind Weddle with 22 points, five rebounds and four steals. Allison Jones (Morristown, Tenn.) rounded out the top scorers with 16 points.
 
With the win, the Buffaloes improve to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the AAC.
 
Milligan will return to action in their next home game Dec. 2 against St. Catharine. Tip off inside the Steve Lacy Field House is set for 7:30 p.m.
