Milligan women's basketball captures AAC win

Milligan College, Tenn. (Dec. 4, 2013) â€" The Milligan College women's basketball team took another Appalachian Athletic Conference win inside the Steve Lacey Fieldhouse over Columbia College 80-54.
 
The Buffaloes came out firing as they took a commanding 12-point lead in the first four minutes of the half making it 12-0. Midway through the half Milligan would extend that lead to 21 points at 30-9. The Fighting Koalas couldn't seem to find an answer for the Buffalo attack entering the break trailing 51-28.
 
The story remained the same throughout the second half as the Buffaloes continued to maintain their offensive pressure. Again the Koalas were unable to find any sort of momentum and trailed by 25 at the 10-minute mark 69-44. Milligan would hold defensively for the remainder of the game only allowing 10 points finishing the game ahead 80-54.
 
The Lady Buffaloes were led by sophomore Allison Jones (Morristown, Tenn.) with a total of 13 points. Freshman Hayley Wyrick (Coeburn, Va.) raked in 11 points and senior Kayla Kelly (Chattanooga, Tenn.) brought in 12 points with six rebounds. Juinor Chelsey Weddle (Hampton, Tenn.) rounded out the top scorers with nine points.
 
The Lady Buffaloes continue the season with a 7-3 overall record and 4-1 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
 
The Lady Buffaloes will take the court again in Cleveland, Ga. against Truett-McConell December 7. Tip-off is set for 2:00 pm.
