Lady Buffaloes fall in conference play

Cleveland, Ga. (Dec. 7, 2013) â€" The Milligan College women's basketball team was unable to rally a conference victory as they fell 71-63 against Truett-McConnell College.
 
The Buffaloes trailed early in the game by a small margin at 6-3 four minutes into the game but quickly bounced back and took the lead shortly thereafter, 15-8, at the 12-minute mark. However, the Buffaloes were unable to hold off Truett-McConnell's offense as they tied the game and took the lead late in the half and entered the break leading 33-26.
 
Truett-McConnell started the second half extending their lead to nine points at the 10-minute mark at 54-45. The Buffaloes then went on a seven-point run to bring the game back within two points at 54-52 but Truett-McConnell responded by extending their lead to seven points at the 3-minute mark. The Buffaloes would be unable to take the lead again and would fall 71-63.
 
Milligan's offense was led by senior Kayla Kelly (Chattanooga, Tenn.), who posted 14 points, four steals and six rebounds. Following Kelly was sophomore Allison Jones (Morristown, Tenn.) and freshmen Haley Wyrick (Coeburn, Va.) with 12 points apiece. Robyn Anthony (Chattanooga, Tenn.) rounded out the top scorers with nine points.
With the loss the Buffaloes' overall record falls to 7-4 and their AAC record drops to 4-2.
 
The Buffaloes will return to action Dec. 14 as they travel to St. Catharine College. Game time in St. Catharine, Ky. is slated for 6 p.m.
