West Point, Ga. (March 14, 2013) --- The Milligan College softball team split an Appalachian Athletic Conference doubleheader on Thursday afternoon with Point University in West Point, Ga. The Buffaloes claimed the first game of the day 5-1, but came up short 2-1 in extra innings in the nightcap.

  In the first game, the Buffaloes jumped on the board early with single runs in the first and second innings. After the Lady Skyhawks scored a run in the bottom of the fourth, Milligan secured the win with three runs in the sixth inning.

Camille Olvey (Maryville, Tenn.) led the way as she went 2-for-2, while
Emily Biggs (Kingsport, Tenn.) was 2-for-4.
Lindsey Keys (Johnson City, Tenn.) ended the game 2-for-3 at the plate.

  In the pitching circle,
Chancli Connatser (Maryville, Tenn.) picked up the win as she allowed just one hit.

  The second game saw neither team score in regulation. The Buffaloes got on the board first in the ninth inning as
Sarah Arrowood (Asheville, N.C.) crossed home plate on a
Maleah Wolfenbarger (Knoxville, Tenn.) sacrifice bunt. However, Point scored two runs in the bottom of the frame to take the victory.

  The Buffaloes saw
Jessica Wheelock (Gray, Tenn.),
Jessica Connatser (Maryville, Tenn.), Biggs and Wolfenbarger each record a single hit at the plate. C. Connatser was handed the loss in a complete game effort as she allowed two runs on six hits.

  The Buffaloes move to 3-12 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

  Milligan returns to action on Saturday, March 15, as they continue the two-game Georgia swing at Reinhardt University. First pitch for the AAC doubleheader in Waleska, Ga., is set for 1 p.m.
