Greeneville, Tenn. (April 14, 2013) --- The Milligan College softball team held off a late Tusculum College rally to take a 5-4 victory on Sunday afternoon in Greeneville, Tenn.

  The Buffaloes struck first as
Camille Olvey (Maryville, Tenn.) scored off a
Catherine McGinnis (Knoxville, Tenn.) single in the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead. After a scoreless second inning,
Jessica Connatser (Maryville, Tenn.) crossed home plate to open the third inning.
Mackenzie Lilley (Kingsport, Tenn.) extended the Milligan lead to 5-0 in the frame with a three-run homerun over the left field fence. Tusculum added runs in the bottom of the fourth and seventh, but the Buffaloes held on for the victory.

  Olvey finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Abby Hughes (Rogersville, Tenn.) went 2-for-2 at the plate, while McGinnis was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

  In the pitching circle,
Chancli Connatser (Maryville, Tenn.) picked up the win as she allowed three runs on eight hits.

  With the win, the Buffaloes improve to 12-18 overall.

  Milligan returns to action on Thursday, April 18, as they host Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Virginia Intermont. First pitch at Anglin Field is set for 2 p.m.
