Milligan College, Tenn. (April 3, 2013) --- The Milligan College softball team picked up their third straight Appalachian Athletic Conference sweep on Wednesday afternoon over Tennessee Wesleyan at Anglin Field. The Buffaloes won the first game 7-2, and then picked up a 4-3 win in the second game.

  In the first game, Tennessee Wesleyan scored first with a single run in the opening inning. Milligan responded in the home side of the second inning when
Camille Olvey (Maryville, Tenn.) scored off a
Mackenzie Lilley (Kingsport, Tenn.) hit, and the Buffaloes took the lead when Lilley crossed home plate on a passed ball.
Jessica Connatser (Maryville, Tenn.) extended the lead to 4-1 as she drove in
Jesse Wheelock (Gray, Tenn.) and
Emily Biggs (Kingsport, Tenn.).

  After the Lady Bulldogs added a run in the fourth inning, Biggs scored off a Connatser single and
Catherine McGinnis (Knoxville, Tenn.) drove Wheelock and Biggs across home plate to give the Buffaloes a 6-2 lead heading into the fifth inning. In the sixth inning, Biggs scored off a
Krista Lambdin (Knoxville, Tenn.) double to secure the win for the Buffaloes.

  Connatser finished the game 3-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the way at the plate, while Biggs went 1-for-2 with three runs scored.

Chancli Connatser (Maryville, Tenn.) picked up her fourth win of the season in the pitching circle. In a complete game effort, C. Connatser allowed two earned runs on six hits.

  In the second game, neither team was able to get a run on the board in the first two innings. Tennessee Wesleyan struck first as they scored three runs in the third inning. Milligan answered in the bottom of the fourth as McGinnis hit a three-run home run over the center field fence.ÂÂ

  After a scoreless fifth inning, the Buffaloes took their first lead of the game as Biggs had a solo homerun over the left field fence to put Milligan up 4-3 heading into the final inning. Milligan retired the Lady Bulldogs in order in the seventh to seal the victory.

  Lambdin led the way at the plate as she went 2-for-3. In the pitching circle, C. Connatser picked up her second win of the day as she allowed just one hit in two innings of work.

  With the sweep, Milligan improves to 8-4 in AAC action and 9-14 overall.

  The Buffaloes return to action on Saturday, April 6, as they host St. Andrews University for Senior Day. First pitch is set for 1 p.m., at Anglin Field.
