Milligan women's soccer falls in nonconference action

Nashville, Tenn. (Sept. 14, 2013) --- The Milligan College women's soccer came up short in nonconference action on Saturday as they fell 2-0 to Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tenn.
 
   The Lady Trojans opened the scoring in the 17th minute on an Anna Hoffman goal on a corner kick. The Buffaloes tried to answer with shots from Teagan Wood (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Kelsey Jones (Royersford, Pa.), but both shots went wide of the net. In the closing minutes of the first half, shots from Alex Fellers (Johnson City, Tenn.) and Ellery Alloiner (High Point, N.C.) missed the net as Milligan trailed 1-0 at the half.
 
   Wood nearly put the Buffaloes on the board at the start of the second half, but the shot sailed wide of the net. TNU scored their second goal of the game in the 50th minute as Brooke Gann scored off of an assist from Alex Hammond. The Buffaloes kept pushing, but they were unable to break onto the board before time expired.
 
   Defensively, Lauren McInturff (Kingsport, Tenn.) recorded seven saves in a complete game effort.
 
   With the loss, Milligan falls to 2-3-1 on the season.
 
   Milligan returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 17, as they travel to St. Andrews University in Appalachian Athletic Conference action. Match time is set for 2 p.m. in Laurinburg, N.C.
