Milligan College, Tenn. (Sept. 28, 2013) --- The Milligan College volleyball split a pair of games on Saturday afternoon in a tri-match with Bryan College and Dalton State inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. Milligan fell 3-0 to Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Bryan in the day's first game, but bounced back to take a 3-1 victory over nonconference foe Dalton State.

  In the day's opening game, the Buffaloes and Bryan traded point as the first set was tied at 9-9. The Lady Lions, however, used a late run to pull out to a 25-19 first set victory. Milligan was unable to overcome a 7-0 Bryan run in the second set as they fell 25-18.

  The decisive third set saw the Buffaloes hold a 10-7 lead. However, Bryan battled back to secure the match with a 25-20 victory.

Jessica Davenport (Cleveland, Tenn.) recorded 17 assists and eight kills, while freshman
Samantha Bruinius (Chicago, Ill.) tallied seven kills.
Emilee Linkous (Morristown, Tenn.) had seven kills.
Kaitlyn Round (Billings, Mont.) had a team high 16 digs, while
Grace Ann Moorhouse (Morristown, Tenn.) and Cleveland record nine and eight kills, respectively.

  In the second game against Dalton State, Milligan jumped out early and never looked back as they captured a 25-15 set victory, and took a 2-0 lead with a 25-14 set victory. After falling 27-25 in the third set, Milligan secured the match with a 25-10 victory.

  Bruinius recorded a team high 13 kills, while
Kylie Whaley (Maryville, Tenn.) tallied 10 kills in the match. Davenport finished with 23 assists. Round and Moorhouse recorded 15 and 14 digs, respectively.

  The Buffaloes move to 8-13 overall and 3-5 in conference play.

  Milligan will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 1, as they travel to Union (Ky.) College. Match time in Barbourville, Ky., is set for 6:30 p.m.ÂÂ
