Franklin Springs, Ga. (Sept. 7, 2013) --- The Milligan College volleyball team split a pair of games on Saturday during the Battle of the Springs hosted by Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Ga. The Buffaloes dispatched Point University 3-0 in the first game of the day, but fell 3-0 to the host Lady Lions in the final game of the tournament.

  In the opening match of the day, the Buffaloes edged ahead late to take a 25-23 first set victory over Point. Milligan pulled away early in the second and third sets as they ran to 25-12 and 25-14 set victories to secure the match.

Kylie Whaley (Maryville, Tenn.) recorded a game high 11 kills, while
Samantha Bruinius (Chicago, Ill.) had nine kills.
Jessica Davenport (Cleveland, Tenn.) tallied 37 assists and 12 digs.
Kaitlyn Round (Billings, Mont.) led the Buffaloes in digs with 15.

  Against Emmanuel, the Buffaloes were unable to rally in the first set as they fell 25-18. Milligan continued to fight, but fell 25-18 in the second set. The decisive third set saw the Buffaloes fall 25-22.

  Round recorded 17 digs in the match, while Davenport had 30 assists and seven digs. Whaley finished 14 kills. Bruinius recorded 11 digs for the Buffaloes.

  Milligan moves to 4-8 on the season.

  The Buffaloes return to action on Friday, Sept. 13, as they host Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Reinhardt University. Match time is set for 6:30 p.m., inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
