Kelly's double-double leads women's basketball past Reinhardt, 67-53

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Jan. 4, 2014) â€" Kayla Kelly registered her first double-double of the season, and the Milligan women's basketball team held off a late run by Reinhardt, defeating the Eagles, 67-53, in AAC competition Saturday afternoon here at the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
  
Milligan improved to 10-6 (6-2 AAC). Reinhardt fell to 6-8 (3-4 AAC).  
 
Kelly led all scorers with 25 points while adding a team-high 10 rebounds. The senior tallied 13 points in the second half, including six points during a 12-0 run the Lady Buffaloes put together beginning at the 15:17 mark. Lindsee Price, who finished with eight points, knocked down a pair of threes during the same run.
 
Milligan kept Reinhardt scoreless over the first five and a half minutes, and built a 14-point lead by the halftime break. That lead would swell to 29 (56-27) in the second half after the 12-0 run.
 
Reinhardt, led by Erika Woodfin's 11 second-half points, clawed back to within 14 inside one minute. Woodfin led the Lady Eagles with 17 points. Taylor Johnson had 15 points, and April Besley recorded a game-high 14 rebounds, 10 on the defensive end.
 
Milligan shot 32.8% (21-64) from the floor but turned the ball over only eight times while forcing 16 Reinhardt turnovers. Much the same as in the Bryan victory Thursday night, the Lady Buffaloes converted 19 of 21 free throw attempts (90.5%). Robyn Anthony went 9-of-11 from the charity stripe and finished with 16 points.
 
Milligan will be on the road for a midweek AAC matchup with Virginia Intermont (6-9, 2-6 AAC). Tip-off is set for Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. with the men to follow at 7:30 p.m.
