Kayla Kelly and
Chelsey Weddle combined for 55 points, and the Milligan College women's basketball defeated Columbia College (S.C.) 91-79 in an AAC road battle Saturday afternoon.

Milligan improved to 14-9 (10-5 AAC) and remained three games out of first place in the league. Columbia dropped to 7-16 (3-10 AAC).

Kelly led all scorers with 29 points while Weddle picked up her third double-double of the season â€" and second in as many games â€" with 26 points and 11 rebounds. The pair scored 11 and 14 in the second half, respectively, and was joined by
Lindsee Price's 12 points as a trio of Buffaloes scored double digits after the halftime break.

Milligan trailed 43-41 at the half but outscored the Koalas 50-36 in the second half.

Price had 12 points on the afternoon and added a season-high nine rebounds.

Kelly was 9-of-17 from the field and 10-of-11 from the free throw line in the victory. Weddle made eight shots on 12 attempts while adding 10 points from the charity stripe.

As a team, the Buffaloes shot 43.5% (30-69) from the field and forced Columbia into 31 turnovers. Kelly had five of the team's 16 steals.

For Columbia, BriAna Johnson scored 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting. The Koalas were 50.8% (32-63) from the field.

Milligan will be at home on Wednesday, Feb. 5 for another AAC matchup as Truett-McConnell College (7-10, 5-8 AAC) comes to town for a 5:30 p.m. contest inside the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. Men will follow at 7:30 p.m.
