MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Feb. 18, 2014) â€" Milligan College softball struggled to get its offense going Tuesday afternoon at Anglin Field and fell to Mars Hill University by scores of 4-3 and 3-0 in the team's home-opening doubleheader.

Milligan (0-4) was doomed in game one by a costly third inning which saw the visiting Lions (6-4) plate three runs. MHU's Jamie Hockaday and Jamie Booze each homered in the inning after Buffalo second baseman
Maleah Wolfenbarger had tied the game at one in the bottom of the second.

Milligan scored a run in the fourth and another in the seventh, both off the bat of
Kimberly Robinson, but that would close out the Buffs' scoring for the day.

Robinson singled a run home in the fourth and gave Milligan late life with a solo homer to lead off the last half inning. She finished game one 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run while punching out four over four innings of work inside the circle.

Robinson received no decision as starter
Jessica Goodson was tagged with the loss. Goodson allowed four (earned) runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out one in three innings.

In game two, Milligan gave up two runs in the second and one run in the sixth on the way to a 3-0 loss. Despite managing only three hits in the nightcap, the Buffs had several opportunities, stranding seven runners and going 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position.

Starting pitcher
Chancli Connatser suffered the loss, giving up three (earned) runs on nine hits and four walks in six innings.

Two of the Buffs' three hits in game two came off the bat of
Chelsey Weaver (2-for-3). Weaver finished the day 4-for-5 with a walk and two runs.

Milligan will return to action Friday, Feb. 21 for another home doubleheader. First pitch against Southern Wesleyan University is set for 2 p.m. at Anglin Field.ÂÂ
