MONTREAT, N.C. (March 1, 2014) â€" Milligan College gave up two (unearned) runs in the second inning of game one but held Montreat scoreless the rest of the afternoon en route to a pair of run-ruled victories (10-2, 8-0) in AAC softball action Saturday.
Milligan (2-5, 2-0 AAC) scored multiple runs in every inning past the third in game one and defeated the Cavaliers 10-2 in six innings. The Buffaloes had 10 hits while limiting Montreat to four.ÂÂ
Kimberly Robinson was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI's in the Buffaloes conference-opener. She later threw four scoreless innings and allowed three hits while hitting another home run in game two.ÂÂ
Starting pitcher
Chancli Connatser was the winning pitcher in game one after allowing two (unearned) runs on four hits and two walks. Connatser added a 2-for-4 effort at the plate, driving in a pair and scoring a pair.ÂÂ
Maleah Wolfenbarger and
Makenzie Lilley also had two hits in game one.
In game two, Milligan held Montreat scoreless on three hits while putting up three-spots in the third and fifth. Game two lasted five innings. Robinson was 1-for-3 with a solo blast, and
Natalie Sheffey went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs.ÂÂ
Robinson picked up the winning decision with four strikeouts over four innings.
Jessica Goodson added a four-pitch perfect inning of relief.
Milligan will return home Friday, March 7 for a doubleheader against Bryan College beginning at 1 p.m.
