MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Feb. 8, 2014) â€" In a tough match against Bryan, the Milligan College women's basketball team fell short with a five-point loss ending with a final score of 75-70.

Milligan fell to 15-10 (11-6 AAC) while the Lions' win brought them to 17-8 (12-4 AAC).

Throughout the game, Bryan and Milligan fought for the lead, battling through four ties and four lead changes. Bryan led by three with 1:08 to play and used the next 60 seconds to climb to its biggest lead of the second half (nine).

Following an offensive outpouring by both teams in the first half, defense increased in the second as Bryan's shot accuracy fell to 54.0% (27-50) for the game after shooting 66.7% (18-27) in the first half. Similarly, Milligan was 46.7% (14-30) in the first half and 37.1% (26-70) for the game.

Bryan's Kristin Lane led all scorers with 17 points. She also added a game-high 11 rebounds for a double-double.

Chelsey Weddle trailed right behind Lane with 15 points for Milligan. Weddle gathered eight rebounds.

The Buffs fought hard to come back in the final minute but ended up having to commit too many fouls. Bryan took advantage of Milligan's fouls by shooting 18-of-22 from the free throw line in the game. The Lady Lions made their last eight free throw attempts, including all four in the last minute.

Milligan will travel to Reinhardt University (9-14, 6-9 AAC) on Wednesday, Feb. 12. Fans can join the Buffs at their final home game of the season on Saturday, Feb. 15 in the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse at 2 p.m. The women's game will be followed by a senior-day ceremony before the men's game at 4 p.m. ÂÂ
