MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (March 10, 2014) â€" It might have felt like two victories, but the Milligan College softball team split a doubleheader with Brevard College at Anglin Field Monday afternoon.
ÂÂ
Milligan (5-6, 4-0 AAC) lost game one 3-2 in eight innings but rebounded with a 6-3 win in game two.
ÂÂ
In game one, Milligan controlled the contest all the way down to the final two outs but lost it in extras. Leading 2-1 with one out and no one on in Brevard's half of the seventh inning, the Buffaloes allowed the visiting Tornados to tie the game via three straight singles in the seventh then win it without the aid of any hits in the eighth.
ÂÂ
Kimberly Robinson (1-1), who had an RBI base hit to give Milligan the lead in the third, suffered the loss despite throwing eight quality innings. She gave up nine hits, three (earned) runs and two walks while striking out two.
ÂÂ
In the nightcap, Milligan jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the first and another two in the second.
Natalie Sheffey hit a double and scored a run in the latter as part of a two-hit, two-run outing. Sheffey added an RBI in the bottom of the fifth, scoring
Lindsey Keys on a rocket single up the middle to make it 5-1.

Starting pitcher
Chancli Connatser threw 5.2 innings, broken apart by an inning and a third from
Jessica Goodson. Connatser (3-3) struck out two and walked none while allowing eight hits and one run. She was the winning pitcher.
ÂÂ

ÂÂ
Milligan will be at home Tuesday, March 11 for a doubleheader versus North Greenville University beginning at 1 p.m. The Buffaloes will then hit the road for conference play over the weekend.ÂÂ
