Baseball finishes midweek with 4-0 win over No. 22 Point Park

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (April 17, 2014) -- Logan Wright combined with three relievers to blank No. 22 Point Park University 4-0 as the Milligan College baseball team put an end to its four-game losing streak Thursday afternoon at Anglin Field.

Milligan (20-19, 11-10 AAC) lost a pair of decisions (3-2, 9-7) on the road at Berea last night before dropping the opener (3-2) this afternoon against the Pioneers.

Wright, in his first start of the season, struck out two and walked two while allowing two hits over four innings. He was rewarded for his work early on as Luke Kirk and Edwin Soto both doubled and scored to give the senior right-hander a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Colt Buchanan, Devan Watts and Ernesto Fernandez worked relief efforts, tossing an inning apiece in the combined shutout.

In the doubleheader against Berea Wednesday night, Milligan fell victim to a walk-off in the bottom of the 11th inning of game one and gave up seven runs in the fifth inning of game two. The Buffs answered with five runs in the sixth as Sam Tarlton hit a two-RBI double and Kirk smacked a three-run homer, but Berea managed the 9-7 victory.

Milligan will be on the road over the weekend for an AAC series against St. Andrews University. It's the final road trip of the regular season for the Buffs.
