Late lead slips in baseball defeat

TOCCOA FALLS, Ga. (April 9, 2014) â€" Milligan College's baseball team held the lead through the first seven innings but could not close the door on Toccoa Falls College, losing to the Eagles 5-4 on Wednesday.
 
Milligan (17-14, 9-9 AAC) used a two-run fifth inning to take the lead 2-1 and extended the lead with two more in the sixth, but the Buffaloes gave up three runs in the bottom of the eighth and took the loss.
 
Cody Hyder provided the initial spark for Milligan's offense, homering to right to tie the game at one in the top of the fifth.
 
Milligan will be back on the road Thursday, April 10 for a meeting with Emory & Henry College. Milligan defeated Emory & Henry 13-7 during the last week of March.
