Early goal helps Rio Grande edge women's soccer, 1-0

RIO GRANDE, Ohio (August 30, 2014) â€" Despite outshooting Rio Grande 12-7 and earning numerous chances of its own, the Milligan College women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss to the University of Rio Grande Saturday afternoon.
 
Milligan (0-2) was paced on offense by Ansley Ferguson, Christine Hardin and Brittany Davis who took two shots apiece, but Rio Grande's Courtney Young made one of her five shots count in the 29th minute to decide the match.
 
Young, who came off the bench for the Red Storm, accounted for four of her team's five shots on frame.
 
Milligan goalkeeper Charlotte Stephens made four saves to match her counterpart, Allison Keeney, but suffered the loss in the team's closest defeat since early October of last season.
 
Milligan will be on the road next Saturday, Sept. 6 for a meeting with University of the Cumberlands starting at 2 p.m
