Women's soccer falls to King, 4-0

BRISTOL, Tenn. (Sept. 10, 2014) â€" Charlotte Stephens recorded a career high nine saves, but it was not enough as the Milligan College women's soccer team was beaten by King University 4-0 Wednesday evening.

That number, which was one higher than the previous mark she set on Sept. 11 of last season, matched her season total through the first three games of this season as Milligan dropped its record to 1-3. King stayed perfect on the season, improving to 3-0.

Stephens faced 31 total shots in the contest, including 16 in the second half. Six of her saves came after the intermission. Milligan took five shots, including three on goal from Ansley Ferguson, Christine Hardin and Alexa Bigl.

King received three of its goals from Rachel Thorpe, the first being the eventual game winner in the 24th minute. Thorpe added two more goals for the Tornado in the 30th and 66th, with Miranda Smith scoring in the 52nd minute.

Milligan will conclude the nonconference portion of its schedule with a match versus Georgia Gwinnett College on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 2 p.m. on Anglin Field.
