Women's basketball suffers exhibition loss at ETSU

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 7, 2015) â€" Despite continued strong performances by Allison Jones and Hayley Wyrick, who have both scored in double digits each game this season, the undefeated Milligan College women's basketball team fell short in an exhibition matchup with East Tennessee State University 88-56 Saturday afternoon at Brooks Gym.

Jones' 17-point output was her highest point total of the season so far as she has scored 10, 10 and 12 points in Milligan's first three games. Wyrick's 16 points tied her second most on the season as she has put up 18, 16 and 11 points, respectively. Additionally, both Jones (7-7) and Wyrick (4-4) were perfect from the charity stripe.

Robinson also continued her good start to her freshmen campaign as she finished with 10 rebounds, and has now collected a double-digit rebound total in every game so far this season (13, 14, 14).

Milligan, who is still undefeated at 3-0 during the regular-season, was done in by big ETSU (0-0) run of 13-1, including a 10-0 stretch, toward the end of the first quarter to open the game up. The Buccaneers have yet to tip off their regular season, and used the Milligan matchup as an opportunity to get geared up for their season-opener next Friday, Nov. 13, against UNC Asheville.

Wyrick added three assists for the Buffaloes, while Lindsee Price finished with seven rebounds and Jones added six boards. Lastly, Robinson and Kelly Barnett were the Buffs next leading scorers at six points apiece.

The Buccaneers were led by five players in double-digit scoring, paced by a game-high 18 from Shamauria Bridges and followed by Tianna Tarter with 17 points and six assists. Yamile Rodriquez led both teams with a game-high 16 boards.

Milligan will continue regular-season action on Tuesday, Nov. 10, as the Buffs travel to Midway, Kentucky, to battle Midway College at 6 p.m. Milligan will then travel to Barbourville, Kentucky, on Nov. 13-14 for the Union College Classic, where the Buffs will take on Alice Lloyd College and Midway for a second time in less than a week.
