CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. (Dec. 30, 2015) â€" With Appalachian Athletic Conference action scheduled to restart in three days, the Milligan College women's basketball fell in its final game of 2015, 84-39, to Campbellsville University Wednesday night in Powell Athletic Center.
Allison Jones had nine points to lead Milligan, who fell to 12-3 on the season with 14 straight conference games remaining on its schedule to finish off the regular season.
Andi Lamb added seven points, while
Callie Cox and
Morgan Gose each had six. Lamb and
Mackenzie Raizor each led the Buffaloes with four rebounds.
In addition to a strong scoring effort, Campbellsville dictated the pace defensively, forcing 24 Milligan turnovers and grabbing 18 steals while holding the Buffs to 29 percent shooting. Additionally, Milligan was outrebounded 45-26.
The Lady Tigers scored eight of the first 10 points of the second quarter, and led 40-20 at the half and 64-28 at the end of the third quarter.
Campbellsville raised its record to 14-3 overall, and was led by a 22-point and nine-rebound effort from Lindsey Burd. Jordan Doram chipped in with 12 points as the Tigers put 12 players into the scoring column.
As a team, the Lady Tigers made six of their 14 3-point shots, led by two makes each from long range by Emily Fox and Lexxus Graham. Campbellsville also was 40 percent from the field and 82 percent from the free throw line (24-29).
Next up, the Buffs open the new year by playing host to Union College and No. 17 Bryan College on Saturday, Jan. 2, and Thursday, Jan. 7, respectively. The games are set to tip off at 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., respectively, with the men's game to follow each.
