Marissa Langford and
Samantha Bruinius combined for 52 kills on the day as the Milligan College volleyball team won one and lost one Saturday afternoon in a trimatch at Montreat College. Milligan started the day with a win over Point University, 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-19), before falling to Montreat, 3-0 (25-22, 26-24, 25-20).

Milligan kept its current share of the lead in the Appalachian Athletic Conference at 19-6 (9-2 AAC), and the Buffaloes have now won seven of their last nine.

Langford tallied 28 kills and Bruinius had 24 kills to lead the Buffs over the two matches. Bruinius registered a match high 13 of hers in the first match as the Buffs took the sweep over the Skyhawks. Langford then led Milligan in the second match with 18, marking a new career high for her in three-set matches.

Freshman
Kellee Geren had 66 assists over the two matches for an average of 11 per set. She had 33 in the first match and another 33 in the second match.

Five Buffs made it to double figures in digs on the defensive side, led by
Grace Ann Moorhouse with 40 in the two matches. Bruinius came in with 26 digs,
Alyssa Rupert with 22 digs, Geren with 16 digs, and
Jadin Foster with 15 digs.

Milligan will be home twice next week, hosting Columbia College on Tuesday, Oct. 4, and Dalton State College on Thursday, Oct. 6. Both matches are scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
