Buffs edged in final minutes 3-2

DAYTON, Tenn. (Oct. 8, 2016) â€" Milligan College's women's soccer team hit the road on Saturday to take on Appalachian Athletic Conference rival Bryan College. In a back and forth effort, a late goal gave the Buffaloes their sixth loss of the season.
 
Milligan (5-6, 2-4 AAC) after being held scoreless in three of its last four games, found the back of the net twice in the second half. The Buffaloes' second leading scorer Amy Long scored both goals of the night. Leading scorer Bekah Cundiff assisted the Urmston, England native on the second goal.
 
Bryan struck first in the 12th minute when Hana Mizoguchi scored the game's first goal. The Lions took the 1-0 lead into the half.
 
The Buffaloes started the second half strong and tied things up in the 67th minute when Long scored her first goal of the night. However, the Lions responded less than three minutes later with another goal to go back on top.
 
Showing resiliency, Milligan turned around and scored its second goal in the 71st minute.
 
After being tied for the second time, the Lions were able to reclaim the lead in the 83rd minute when Anna Sanders scored.
 
Less than a minute later, the Buffaloes had one more chance to retie the lead. Cundiff got one more shot on goal, but the shot was saved by Lions goalkeeper Morgana Hardt da Silva.
 
Milligan put pressure on Hardt da Silva all game, with 18 shots, 10 of them being on goal and requiring her to save eight goals. Buffalo goalkeeper Charlotte Stephens had four saves.
 
After three road conference games, the Buffaloes return home on Tuesday to host AAC rival Montreat College. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
