Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's basketball victorious in OT

LAURINBURG, N.C. (Nov. 19, 2016) â€" For the second time this season, the Milligan College men's basketball team won in overtime, defeating Appalachian Athletic Conference member St. Andrews University 94-91 Saturday evening on the road.

Milligan (3-3, 1-1 AAC) snapped a two-game losing streak while picking up its second OT win of the season, both of which have come on their opponents' home court. The win featured a 21-point, 10-rebound effort from Tyler Nichols who made two free throws with 1.1 seconds left in OT to help Milligan seal the win.

Daxton Bostian also made two free throws in the closing seconds to put Milligan up by three, and the freshman finished with 14 points, six assists, three rebounds and two steals. Will Buckner was another Buff with a standout game as he scored 16 points and added 12 rebounds for his second double-double of the season.

With 10 ties, four lead changes and neither team going ahead by more than eight, the game was close the whole way. Milligan had its largest lead of six just five minutes into the game and maintained the lead for most of the rest of the first half, until a flurry from St. Andrews put the Knights up six, 47-41, at the break.

In the second half, the Knights extended it to eight early, but the Buffs chipped into it and took the lead back midway through the second half.

Milligan will be back home on Tuesday, Nov. 22, for a doubleheader with the women against Truett-McConnell University. The women's game is schedule to tip at 5:30 p.m. with the men's to follow at 7:30 p.m.
