Women's basketball falls at No.20 Columbia (Mo.)

COLUMBIA, Mo. (Nov. 5, 2016) â€" For the second game in a row, Milligan College's women's basketball team hit the road to take on a ranked NAIA Division I opponent, this time taking on the No.20 ranked Cougars of Columbia College (Mo.). Neither half of the game ended as well as it started for the Buffaloes and resulted in an 88-62 defeat.
 
Milligan (0-2, 0-0 AAC) started the game off strong, leading 22-21 at the end of the first quarter. Sophomore Sarah Robinson scored eight of the team's first 12 points and helped the Buffaloes build a 17-10 lead.
 
The Cougars bounced back with an 11-5 run to close the gap and carried their momentum into the second quarter. After several lead changes, Columbia closed the half with a 9-1 run to give them a 37-31 lead at the half.
 
Columbia never surrendered its lead and outscored Milligan 51-31 in the second half.
 
Robinson was the only Buffalo to reach double figures for scoring with 13. Senior Kelly Barnett had six assists for the Buffaloes and Lindsee Price had two steals on the game. Sophomore Mackenzie Raizor had a game high eight rebounds off the bench.
 
Milligan returns to action next weekend at the Union College Classic. After that, the Buffaloes will play their first home game of the season on Nov. 16 against Tennessee Wesleyan University.
