MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Feb. 20, 2016) â€" The Milligan College baseball teamed ended a four-game series with Taylor University with a 3-2 loss and a 2-0 loss at Anglin Field Saturday afternoon.
Milligan fell to 5-7 on the season while Taylor University improved to 4-4.
In the bottom of the second inning of game one,
Thomas Miller doubled down the third base line to put runners on second and third, setting up a scoring opportunity for
Andrew Copas. Copas ripped one down the first base line that hooked into foul territory, giving him a stand-up double. Copas's hit drove in both
Justin Pearson, who walked in the inning, and
Braden Jones, pinch running for Miller, to give the Buffs a 2-1 lead.
But that would not be enough to give the Buffs the win as an error in the fifth resulted in the game-winning run.
Senior
Codie Campbell was saddled with his second loss of the season while Taylor's Jordan Crabb earned his first win on the season.
The Buffs failed to score a run in game two as they fell 2-0. Milligan had five runners in scoring position through the course of the game, but were unable to convert those into runs.
Junior
Luke Spaulding recorded his first loss on the season as Ryan Masters earned his first win. Andrew Feldman was credited with the save, his first of the season.
Next up, the Buffs travel to Cochran, Georgia, on Friday, Feb. 26, to face Middle George College for a four-game series before returning home to host Montreat College in the Appalachian Athletic Conference opener March 5-6.
