WALESKA, Ga. (Sept. 17, 2017) â€" It took five sets against St. Andrews University and four sets against Reinhardt University for the Milligan College volleyball team to continue the strong start to the season with two more road wins on Saturday. Milligan won 22-25, 25-13, 18-25, 25-19, 15-12 against SAU before winning 25-15, 25-18, 26-28, 25-18 against Reinhardt.

Milligan (14-4, 5-0 AAC) stayed perfect in the Appalachian Athletic Conference as the current league frontrunner and only remaining unbeaten team in conference standing. It was also the Buffaloes fifth win in the last six matches and 13th win in the last 15.

Marissa Langford and
Samantha Bruinius both had big days, earning double figures in kills in both matches and combining for 74 kills on the day. Freshman setter
Kellee Geren tallied 86 assists (48, 38) in the two matches.
Grace Ann Moorhouse, a reigning conference player of the week along with Langford and Geren, totaled 47 digs (16, 31).

Milligan trailed twice in the first match, at 1-0 and 2-1 in the game scoring, but fought back with a strong second and fourth set before taking the deciding game 15-12. Turning right back around to play host Reinhardt in the second match, the Buffaloes then picked back up where they had left off with SAU, taking the first two against Reinhardt to secure a substantial lead.

Langford had a hitting percentage of .408 on the day while seniors
Charlie Bateman and
Bailey Thomas had 13 and 12 kills, respectively. Five Buffs reached 20 digs with
Alyssa Rupert (28), Bruinius (26), Geren (22) and
Jadin Foster (20) following Moorhouse in the defensive effort.

Bateman and Geren were a part of 11 blocks in the two matches, and
Hannah Griffin and
Alyssa Gibson each earned a solo block.

Milligan will continue its current six-match road swing with a trip to Tennessee Wesleyan University on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 6:30 p.m. The Buffs will be back home on Thursday, Sept. 29, versus UVa.-Wise.
