MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Oct. 14, 2017) â€" After winning four straight Appalachian Athletic Conference games, the Milligan College volleyball team defeated nonconference foe Kentucky Christian University (16-25, 25-17, 25-10, 25-19) Saturday afternoon. This boosted the Buffaloes' overall record to 10-13 (7-6 AAC) while putting an end to Kentucky Christian's nine game winning streak (20-3 overall).

After losing the first set (16-25), Milligan came back out strong in the games to follow ready to fight gaining every bit of momentum. After 5 apiece in the second game, the Buffs took off from there never letting the Knights gain any kind of lead. Milligan took the second set by eight points with a kill by senior
Alora Ricker off an assist from sophomore and reigning AAC Setter of the Year,
Kellee Geren. The Buffs earned the first five points of the third game and continued to not let Kentucky Christian come within five points of them throughout the entire set all the while Milligan outkilled the Knights 9-6.

The tightest race in the match came in the fourth set. Despite the Knights' earning four more kills than Milligan, the Buffs stood their ground and pulled away with the victory taking the fourth and final game on a service ace by junior libero
Alyssa Rupert (25-19).  Rupert led the Buffs with five service aces. Overall, Milligan had a total of 12 team blocks in comparison to Kentucky Christian's four.

The Buffs were led by senior
Marissa Langford with 14 kills and 17 digs for her ninth double-double of the season. Following was freshman
Julia Codispoti with nine kills while Ricker and sophomore
Julie Dockery earned six kills apiece. Also following Langford was Rupert with 16 digs alongside Geren with 12 digs. Geren also had 30 assists.

Up next, Milligan faces AAC foe Bluefield College on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. The Buffs return to the fieldhouse on Friday, Oct. 20, for more AAC action in a contest against St. Andrews University.
