MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Oct. 18, 2017) â€" The Milligan College women's soccer team met at Anglin Field on Wednesday night for a nonconference matchup against North Greenville University. The Buffs drew a tie with the Crusaders, 1-1, moving Milligan's overall record to 9-2-3.
The Buffs were led by junior
Amy Long and sophomore
Dharma Fawbush with four shots apiece. Following was junior
Amy Olvera and sophomore
Alyson McMillan with three apiece.
The Crusaders connected their goal first in the 41
st minute of the game. Despite Milligan being outshot 7-5 in the first half, the Buffs came back out ready to dominate the second half outshooting North Greenville 14-1. Milligan also earned two more corner kicks than the Crusaders.
With 14 minutes left to play in the match, sophomore
Bekah Cundiff found the back of the net for her 11
th goal this season off an assist by McMillan. The Buffs continued to attack pushing for more opportunities to score. Milligan shot four more times in comparison to North Greenville's one shot in the final 13 minutes to play. Freshman goalkeeper
Eva Bower earned three saves on the night, all of which took place in the first half.
Up next, the Buffs are back on the road for two Appalachian Athletic Conference contests on Saturday, Oct. 21, and Wednesday, Oct. 25, against St. Andrews University and Columbia College. Saturday's game time is set at 12 p.m.
