Women's soccer wins AAC road game, 3-1

MONTREAT, N.C. (Oct. 4, 2017) â€" The Milligan College women's soccer team won their second Appalachian Athletic Conference road game Wednesday night against the Montreat College Cavaliers. The Buffs defeated the Cavaliers 3-1 and have now won seven of their 10 ten games moving their conference record to 3-0-2 and overall record to 7-1-2.
 
Senior captain Brittany Davis got the scoring going early in the eighth minute of the game off an assist from junior Amy Long but Montreat responded with an equalizer in the final 12 minutes of the half. It was Davis' second goal of the season. Sophomore Dharma Fawbush connected for her sixth goal of the season in the first four minutes of the second half. In the final minute of the game sophomore Alyson McMillan added a cushion finding the back of the net for her third time this season. The Buffs' defense was resilient and did not let up another goal securing the 3-1 AAC win for Milligan.

Davis led the Buffaloes with five shots. Following was sophomore Bekah Cundiff and McMillan with four apiece. Freshman goalkeeper Eva Bower tallied one save. The Cavaliers were outshot by Milligan 25-11.
 
Up next, the Buffs return home Saturday, Oct. 7, for another AAC contest against Point University. The match time is set for 4 p.m. Milligan also plays at Anglin Field Tuesday, Oct. 10, against another AAC foe Bryan College.
