Marissa Langford tallied 12 kills, including kills on the last two points, to help send the Milligan College volleyball team to a sweep of Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Brenau University, 25-18, 25-18, 28-26, Friday night on the road. The win was Milligan's second in the last three matches and moved the Buffs to 7-13 (4-6 AAC). ÂÂ

Milligan was never in any real danger. After starting the first set on an 11-4 run, the Buffs later used a 7-2 run to create more separation and secure the opening frame. Similarly in the second, the Buffs won six of the first seven points to get into a lead they would not relinquish.

With a lead then of two games to none, Milligan trailed for much of the third, including facing deficits of 12-7 early on and 23-22 late in the set. At 23-22,
Rebecca Maxwell put down one of her five kills of the match, and Langford followed six points later with two straight which closed the match.

Maxwell had a solid performance with five kills and no errors on 11 attacks for an attack percentage of .455. Freshman
Julia Codispoti and sophomore
Julie Dockery were also very effective striking the ball. Codispoti  finished with seven kills and one error on eight attempts (.750) while Dockery had seven kills and no errors on 11 attempts (.636).  Altogether, Milligan hit .342 with 37 kills and only 11 attack errors.

Kellee Geren tallied 31 assists, and Langford was Milligan's digs leader with 11.

Milligan will have a quick turnaround as the Buffs travel to Truett-McConnell University for a Saturday morning match at 11 a.m. The next home match for Milligan is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m. versus Kentucky Christian University.
