Men's basketball drops exhibition matchup at William & Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (Dec. 17, 2017) â€" The Milligan College men's basketball team hit the road Sunday for the second exhibition game of the season. Daxton Bostian led the Buffs with 13 points but Milligan fell to NCAA Division I William & Mary University, 126-69.
 
W&M'S EARLY RUNS
William & Mary used a pair of runs within the first 10 minutes of the game to extend the lead to double figures and never look back. The first run was 10 straight points from the Tribe as W&M changed a 4-4 score to 14-4 in a span of two minutes early in the first half. Shortly after that, W&M went on a 17-4 run over roughly five minutes to go out by 21 midway through the opening half.
 
The Buffs were able to cut the lead to 16, and they did that twice, but would not get any closer. Aaron Levarity made a pair of free throws with six and a half minutes remaining in the first half to make it 41-25, and Bostian knocked down one of his three 3-pointers with four and a half minutes left to make it 46-30.
 
However, William & Mary closed the first half on a 12-4 run and led big the rest of the way.
 
STATISTICAL LEADERS
Bostian was 4-of-11 from the field and 3-of-9 from three to finish with 13 points and three assists. David Casaday was next with 10 points and nine other Buffs made it into the scoring column.
 
For William & Mary, six players were in double figures for scoring, led by Nathan Knight with 21 points and Justin Pierce with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
 
UP NEXT
Milligan will travel south to Troy, Alabama, for another NCAA Division I exhibition game against Troy University on Thursday, Dec. 21. Opening tip is set for 7 p.m. The Buffaloes will be back home on Tuesday, Jan. 2, for an Appalachian Athletic Conference game against Bryan College.
