GEORGETOWN, K.Y. (Dec. 30, 2017) â€" The reigning Appalachian Athletic Conference player of the year
Sarah Robinson led the Milligan College women's basketball team to a non-conference victory with 28 points and nine rebounds at Georgetown College. The Buffs defeated the Tigers (71-66) putting an end to their undefeated season at home (5-1).

THE FIRST HALF
The Buffs led the Tigers by as much as eight points in the first quarter and went on to lead by as much as nine in the second until Georgetown made two double bonus free throws to tie the game for the second time (27-27). The Tigers went on to keep Milligan at 27 and scored seven more points in the final three minutes putting them in the lead at the half (34-27).

THE SECOND HALF
Though Milligan only put up six points in the second quarter, the Buffs scored a total of 44 points in the final 20 minutes of play and worked to minimize the seven-point deficit. The Tigers went on to lead by as much as 10 points but it was only a matter of time before Milligan took back the lead.

Up by six at the start of the fourth quarter, Milligan and Georgetown went head-to-head with a tied game five times in the remaining seven minutes. With 66 apiece, Robinson was sent to the free throw line and put the Buffs up by two with 12 seconds left to go in the game. Two more made free throws by Robinson and another by
Cassidy Anderson secured the Buffs' victory over Georgetown College, 71-66.

STATISTICAL LEADERS
Nine Buffs made it into the scoring column. Following Robinson was
Mackenzie Raizor with 12 rebounds and
Andi Lamb with nine points. M. Raizor and
Emma Kate Brown earned seven points apiece while Lamb and
Teal Davis earned four rebounds apiece. Brown also led with four assists.

The Tigers had five earn double-digit points. Markizjah Mimms led with 15 points while Lydia Graves followed with 12. Martina Lytle reached a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

For the first time since November the Buffs return home to Steve Lacy Fieldhouse on Tuesday, Jan. 2. Milligan will face AAC foe Byran College at 5:30 p.m. and then are back on the road again on Thursday, Jan. 4, for more AAC play at Brenau University. The Buffs also play at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse on Saturday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m. to face Montreat College.
