Buffs drop AAC battle against Bryan

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Jan. 2, 2018) â€" Sarah Robinson and Cassidy Anderson led the Milligan College women's basketball team with 15 points apiece in an Appalachian Athletic Conference showdown on Tuesday evening against the Bryan College Lions. The Buffs fell to the Lions 75-61.

BACK AND FORTH FIRST HALF
The Buffs led by as much as seven points in the first five minutes of the first quarter and did not let the Lions take the lead until four minutes remaining. Nevertheless freshman Teal Davis responded draining a 3-pointer to tie the game at 18 with 1:45 left in the first quarter.

Both teams battled but the Lions came out on top with a two-point lead to start the second. However, the toe-to-toe race continued. Milligan and Bryan traded the lead back and forth, never more than three points, all the way until Davis drained another 3-pointer to put the game at a tie (38-38) at the half.

BRYAN'S SECOND HALF SURGE
The race continued as the game was tied at 45 apiece and 47 apiece until Bryan's Deandra Luna put the Lions in the lead for good. It was only up for the Lions as they led by as much as 10 in the third quarter and then 19 in the fourth. Bryan accounted for four 3-pointers in both the third and fourth quarter. The Buffs fought to bridge the gap but Bryan remained on top sealing their conference victory over Milligan, 75-61.

STATISTICAL LEADERS
Following Robinson and Anderson was junior Mackenzie Raizor with nine points and Davis with eight points. Raizor led with 10 rebounds while Robinson followed with nine rebounds. Davis also accounted for eight rebounds and sophomore Kaely Gose earned seven. Junior Andi Lamb led with four assists.

Bryan had four enter into the double-digit scoring column. Karli Combs led with 16 points and Luna followed with 13 points. Keneisha Love tallied a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

UP NEXT
The Buffs are back on the road for more AAC action at Brenau University on Thursday, Jan. 4. Game time is set at 6 p.m. Milligan returns home to Steve Lacy Fieldhouse on Saturday, Jan. 6, to face Montreat College at 2 p.m.
