MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (March 7, 2017) --
Andrew Copas and
Hunter Suggs recorded three hits apiece to lead the Milligan College baseball team to another big victory over Fisher College, 11-3, Tuesday afternoon at Anglin Baseball Field.
ÂÂ
The win was Milligan's third straight win as the Buffs completed the three-game series sweep over the Falcons after taking both games of Monday's doubleheader. It improved Milligan to 9-11 overall this season.
ÂÂ
Milligan scored in each of the first six innings of the nine-inning affair, including putting up three runs in both the third and fourth. The third-inning scoring started when
Ryan Young hit his fifth homer of the season off the top of the wall in left field. Milligan was already up 3-2 at that point, and Young's homer started a three-run rally in the inning.
ÂÂ
Suggs had one of his two RBI's later in the third inning when we was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
ÂÂ
In the fourth inning, Milligan again added three runs, with the first coming on a bases loaded walk which scored Copas.
Chris Patterson followed a few batters later to drive home Young on a double to left-center field.
ÂÂ
Six Buffs saw action on the top of the hill in the victory, led by
Wyatt Richardson who threw the first three innings. Richardson allowed two earned runs, two hits and two walks while striking out one.
Luke Spaulding picked up the win in relief as he went two innings with three hits and no runs.
ÂÂ
Jacob Littleton,
Chandler Daniels,
Jackson Arnold and
Justin Morefield closed the game out with an inning apiece. Copas was 3-for-3 in the effort while Suggs was 3-for-4.
Thomas Miller also had multiple hits going 2-for-4.
ÂÂ
Next up, Milligan will travel to Reinhardt University for a three-game Appalachian Athletic Conference series on Friday-Saturday, March 10-11. The Buffs will not be back home until Friday-Saturday, March 24-25.
