Volleyball picks up third straight win

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Sept. 19, 2017) â€" The Milligan College women's volleyball team earned their third straight Appalachian Athletic Conference sweep Tuesday evening in a contest against the Bryan College Lions (25-14, 25-15, 25-13).

Milligan started out strong in the first set dominating Bryan with 17 kills in comparison to the Lions, seven. Senior Marissa Langford led the Buffaloes for the fifth match in a row with 13 kills. Sophomore Julie Dockery followed right behind Langford tallying 10 kills. Junior Rebecca Maxwell also helped the Buffs connecting eight kills.

The second set was close early on until the Buffs took off after point 11 allowing the Lions to only earn six more points taking the second set 25-15. The third set was similar to the second in that the Buffs took the final point on a kill, both assisted by reigning AAC setter of the year, Kellee Geren.

Geren had a total of 34 assists. Junior libero Alyssa Rupert contributed to the Buffs' sweep with 21 digs while senior Alora Ricker had 12 digs.

Up next, the Buffs are back on the road Friday, Sept. 22, and Saturday, Sept. 23. Milligan will travel to Georgia as they face Point University on Friday and Reinhardt University on Saturday, both AAC contests.
