BLUEFIELD, Va. (Oct. 16, 2018) â€" Make it 10 in a row for the Milligan College volleyball team as they picked up a road sweep (25-14, 25-16, 25-22) of Bluefield College in an Appalachian Athletic Conference match Tuesday night at Dome Gymnasium. The Buffaloes kept their road record unblemished as they are now 5-0 away from Steve Lacy Fieldhouse this season and improved their overall record to 19-4 (12-2 AAC).

After the first two sets were dominated by Milligan, the third and final frame proved to be the closest of the match as Bluefield (9-12, 6-9 AAC) held the advantage for the majority of the game until the Buffs turned it on late. Trailing 20-13, Milligan closed out the match on a 12-2 run to finish off the straight set sweep.

BY THE NUMBERS
Fresh off winning AAC defender and setter of the week honors for the third consecutive week,
Alyssa Rupert and
Kellee Geren continued to prove why they are two of the top players in the league. Rupert, Milligan's libero, racked up 25 digs for an average of 8.3 per set as she continues to lead the nation in digs per game.

The junior setter, Geren, tallied 37 assists and scooped up 12 digs for her 12th double-double of the season.

Julie Dockery led the Milligan offensive attack with 11 kills to go along with a .360 hitting percentage and four service aces, which matched a career high.
Julia Codispoti followed with one of her best performances of the season putting down nine kills on 18 attempts for a .444 attacking percentage. Freshman
Elise Gregory added nine kills and junior
Abby Falcone finished with seven.

On the defensive end, freshmen
Layla Grant and
Cameron McConnell helped keep the Rams offense at bay with 10 digs each. Grant also matched her career high in aces with five.

Over the course of the match, Milligan held Bluefield to a .053 hitting percentage and outpointed the Rams 52 to 34. Bluefield was led by Kaleigh Baker who drove home six kills and collected 20 digs.

The Buffs snapped the Rams two game win streak and completed the season sweep with the victory. Milligan continues to remain atop the AAC North, holding a 2.5 game lead over Union.

Milligan returns home to Steve Lacy Fieldhouse for senior night Friday, Oct. 19, at 6:30 p.m. when they host AAC member Brenau University. The Buffs will then hit the road for a season long three game road trip beginning in Athens, Tennessee, against Tennessee Wesleyan.
