Women's basketball gets back on winning track at Montreat

MONTREAT, N.C. (Feb. 10, 2018) â€" Ten Buffs made their way into the scoring column and the Milligan College women's basketball team picked up a road Appalachian Athletic Conference win at Montreat College, 64-55, on Saturday.

Sarah Robinson scored 18 points and added six rebounds, and Milligan used a strong third and fourth quarter to improve to 16-12 (12-10 AAC). The win was the fourth in the last five games for Milligan.

SECOND QUARTER SURGE
The game went back and forth through the first 15 minutes until Milligan took the lead for good on a 3-pointer by Morgan Gose with under five minutes to go in the first half. Gose's three was followed by a three from Teal Davis to make it a six-point game, and Milligan led by six at the half, 30-24.

THIRD QUARTER SURGE
Milligan used the momentum from the end of the first half to start the second half in much the same fashion. Andi Lamb and Robinson scored baskets on Milligan's first two possessions as the Buffs scored the first four points to make it a 10-point game less than a minute into the third quarter.

From there, Montreat trimmed the lead to single digits only twice while Milligan went out by as many as 15 by the end of the third quarter.

FOURTH QUARTER THREAT
Montreat scored the first eight points of the fourth quarter to make it a 53-49 game with less than six minutes left, but Milligan foiled the threat with key baskets from Lamb, Kaely Gose, Robinson and Emily Kiser down the stretch.

LEADERS
Behind Robinson's 18-point, six-rebound effort, K. Gose was next in the scoring column with 14 points and seventh rebounds. Kiser scored six including a 4-for-4 effort from the free throw line. As a team, Milligan shot 40.4% from the field (23-57) and 40.9% from three (9-22).
